Thinking of a career
in Information
Technology?


Students interested in the Information Technology track have degree options through the Communiversity ranging from the associate level to two bachelor’s programs all the way up to three master’s of science degrees and graduate certificates. The technological world is ever changing and as a result society needs educated and trained professionals to work in research and development, law enforcement, programming, support, management, management
information systems, quality control, project management, training, sales, web page design, actuarial sciences, computer security, finance, insurance, risk analysis, and operations to name just a few. Students are also prepared for graduate education including but not limited to information systems, professional and technical communication, engineering management, or graduate certificates in information technology and engineering management.

Associate Degree
Computer Science AS

The Computer Science AS degree prepares students to transfer to bachelor’s degrees in computer science, information systems and additional computer-related fields.
(Offered by Brookdale Community College and Ocean County College)

Other transferrable Information Technologies associate degrees are available at BCC and OCC. The Computer Science AS degree is the suggested degree.

Computer Science BS

This comprehensive program focuses on computer-science topics, the sciences, mathematics and supporting interdisciplinary studies. Courses for this degree may be completed entirely on-line or by mixing on-line and in-person classes at the Communiversity.

Information Systems BA

This program provides a solid foundation in the principles and applications of computing and information systems with considerable emphasis on information-systems topics, the sciences, mathematics and supporting interdisciplinary studies. Courses for this degree may be completed entirely on-line or by mixing on-line and in-person classes at the Communiversity.

Information Technology BS

The BS-IT Program prepares students to integrate, design, deploy and manage computing and telecommunication resources and services. Graduates will be ready to contribute to the development and evolution of technology infrastructures in organizations. Through core courses that provide fundamental knowledge and hands-on practice in information technology functions, system development, and applications, leading to specialty concentrations offering the breadth and depth of NJIT’s technology core, this interdisciplinary program is designed for students to develop a marketable expertise in an IT area of their choosing. Over 12 concentration areas are available.

This on-line program emphasizes the planning, investigation,design, development, application and evaluation of information systems. Designed for students who are interested in the application of information systems to business, physical sciences, social sciences, biological sciences, the arts, humanities and engineering.

Communications MS

This on-line program prepares students for careers in the rapidly growing field of technical communication. The degree enables students to acquire an understanding of information technologies and to approach communication issues with problem-solving skills.

Engineering Management MS
(On-Line Degree)


This on-line program develops engineers and other technically-trained individuals for leadership roles in a technologically-based, project-oriented enterprise. The program focuses on interdisciplinary course work and research in order to provide students with an advanced background in both the theoretical and practical aspects of managing technical/engineering projects. Further, it provides broadbased knowledge and skills to succeed as organizational managers and project managers.
